Artist

An artist is a practitioner of magic who is able to cast spells by drawing pictures, which show the intent of the spell such as the victim for example. Spells must be drawn precisely, each aspect and symbol working together to produce the desired effects. The Royal Family of Tamarang shows an aptitude for the skill with Violet and her distant relative James both having the skill. Although both James and Violet as well as Richard Rahl and Rachel are only able to cast spells by drawing pictures in a special cave outside of Tamarang called the Sacred Caves. The witch woman Six also shows some knowledge of the skill, which is shown by her ordering Violet where to draw while attempting to capture Richard Rahl. Later, Rachel, captured by Violet for the third time, was able to change the spells on the wall having learned the technical details from having to watch Violet and Six. She turned the spell of the ghosty gobblies against Violet and freed Richard from the spell Violet and Six cast on him designed to use his own gift to suffocate him. After the defeat of the Imperial Order, Zedd revealed that she is actually a distant member of the royal family of Tamarang and promised to teach her how to hone her skill as an artist.
