Black-tipped Races were large birds of prey from the Old World, big enough to kill Betty's two goat kids. Nicholas the Slide used such birds to watch and track Richard and his friends through the Old World, especially in Bandakar. Richard killed many of them, ending Nicholas' surveillance of Richard and his group. They also mounted an attack in a forest on Richard and his Bandakaran troops.
