Brainard was a Midlands general who fought in the first D'Haran War against Panis Rahl.
He was mentioned to have thought against Urdland, and drove him back into D'Hara. He was then ordered by Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander to stop at the Kern River and not protrude into D'Hara. He should hold the bridges with half of his men the other half should go north along the Kern River to block the retreat of Anargo's troops. While General Sanderson came from the south and Mordale from the southwest to enclose Anargo.
They were able to enclose Anargo at Coney Crossing and with the help of Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander to defeat Anargo's amry in the final battle of the first war right before the erection of the boundary.
