Terry Goodkind’s Children Of D’Hara was written and released as five separate novellas that told the story of Richard and Kahlan’s struggle to survive two separate threats to them and their world. The series introduced the readers to new characters and creatures.
Synopsis[]
Richard and Kahlan fresh off their defeat of Hannis Arc, the resurrected Emperor Sulachan and the horde of Half people, Richard’s promise to Kahlan for a “Golden Age” is abruptly halted by a new threat from a land afar, that promises bloodshed for all. All hope for Richard and Kahlan is to trust in the mysterious Witch woman/sorceress Shale from the long forgotten region of the Northern Waste that comes to D’Hara in search of an answer to the mysterious death of people being slaughtered through her land.
Kahlan is nearly killed by an alien creature when she retired to her chambers, and is healed by Shale whom discovers that Kahlan is concealing a secret; she’s pregnant and with twins!
As Richard realizes that they are not safe in D’Hara, he plans to take the Kahlan via The Sliph to The Wizard’s Keep, when The Sliph revealed that she could not take Kahlan due to her condition which hampers the exodus from The People’s Palace.
