Edwin Winthrop was the husband of Claudine Winthrop, and a burgess, elected by his fellow merchants, who was a key backer of many important laws in Anderith. He and his wife were tricked into being the sponsors of the Winthrop Fair Employment Law, which forced masons to hire unskilled laborers outside their guild.
Edwin was also one of the head supporters of a group against the corruption of the government of Anderith, along with Director Linscott.
His wife was beaten to death by order of Dalton Campbell. When Dalton ordered the same for the Kahlan Amnell, Edwin provided her with a place to rest and recover while Richard went to deal with the Chimes.
