The New World is a land consisting of three territories of Westland, the Midlands and D'Hara. It is located on the northern side of the Great Barrier, and is bordered on its southern side by an ocean. The Great Barrier separated the New World from the much larger Old World for three millennia, before being destroyed by Richard Rahl in the 40s ACB.
During The Sword of Truth series, the New World experiences two of the biggest conflicts of its history: the Second D'Haran War and the Imperial Order War. The Second D'Haran War was fought between Darken Rahl, Lord of D'Hara, and his allies, and Kahlan Amnell, the Mother Confessor, and her allies. In the Imperial Order War, Kahlan Amnell and her husband Richard Rahl united the territories of the New World for the first time in history and led them against the leaders of the Old World, the Imperial Order and Jagang.
The Law of Nines raises speculation that the New World is equivalent in its world to North America in our world.
